Chronicles of a Mom

I wanted to write about the woes I'm currently experiencing as a result of my LO being addicted to his pacifier. Complain of my sleepless nights and the bags under my eyes-in a politically correct way of course. But as my fingers touch the keyboard I can't help but think how exciting this journey called motherhood can and will be for me. I find myself planning adventures, birthday parties, outfits, scouting schools and he's only 6 weeks old! I once read a meme that said, "You'll never know how boring your life is until you have kids". And it's soooo true! Only a year ago, I was content with nights at the club, drinks with friends (which I plan on keeping btw), working and repeat. I've always been one who was willing to try almost anything once, but somehow managed to get into the previously stated routine. But something about becoming a mother compels me to take a different approach and feel that I not only owe it to my child but I owe it to myself to lead a fruit-filled life.  It's now instilled in me that I have to become the woman I've always dreamed of becoming so I can be a living testament for my LO. I find myself looking forward to his middle-of-the-night feedings so that I can continue reading articles about carriers that cause hip dysplasia, cooking classes at WholeFoods, free building workshops at Home Depot and Lowes and the best aquariums and museums for children. And how he and I can wear matching outfits without me looking like I wish everyday was Halloween (don't judge me lol). All in all, I know just like any relationship in life, there will be ups and downs but I am sooo stoked to experience them all with the closest person to me-the person God entrusted to me.

My Current Obsessions

10 of my favorite things currently

1. Sperry Top-Spider Authentic Original 2 Eye Glitter Boat Shoe, $95. I got these just in time for the holiday season.

2. Forever 21 Favorite Boyfriend Cardigan in Olive, $20. This comfy and cozy cardigan keeps me warm while I get use to this East Coast Fall weather. And it fits me better than my brother's cardigans.

3. Spectrum Unrefined Coconut Oil, $9. I use coconut oil like nobody's business! I use it as an all-over-body moisturizer and a night time moisturizer. I also use it as a moisturizer on my LO and on his scalp to treat his cradle cap. I also use a powdery version and put it in my oatmeal to help the production of breast milk.

4. Peacekeeper Cause-metics Super Fruit Balm, $8. This organic combination of goji and pomegranate keeps my lips super soft and healthy throughout the day with just one application.

5. Ebony Magazine. My monthly subscription helps me get through my lengthy and numerous doctor visits.

6. Hydro floss Oral Irrigator, $129.99. I've never been much of a flosser but this allows me to keep a healthy mouth without having to deal with smelly dental floss.

7. Mia Lace Up Combat Inspired Boots, $51. These boots are the staple item to many of my outfits this Fall. And the side zipper makes it so easy for me to run out the door, and it also allows me to feel safe when I'm holding my LO in public.

  8. Maybeline Fit Me Concealer, $6.50. Is a life saver! Really! This light weight and flawless concealer provides coverage that hides the dark circles I've inherited from my sleepless nights.

9. Flower Lash Knockout Volumizing Mascara, $7. With one sweep my lashes appear dramatically fuller without any clumps.

10. Maybeline Color Sensational Vivids, $7.50. Three of my favorite lipsticks come from this line. On the Fire Red, Brazen Berry and Hot Plum give me kissable lips.

DIY Slogan Sweater

DIY Slogan Sweater

Being comfortable and chic is a style combination that I've always loved and find convenient now that I have a LO. Say hello to my new season staples-- slogan t-shirts and sweaters. With my newly inherited preparation time and the autumn chill-they are perfect solutions. They allow me to be stylish and snug with just a few pieces. You can rock these pieces with a pair of heels or sneakers. Check out this DIY slogan sweater project here. Let's face it, not everyone can splurge out on Phillip Lim but with just a few steps- nothing will be left unsaid this season.
