Monica and Shannon Brown Welcome their Baby in Style

Songstress Monica and NBA basketball player Shannon Brown threw an extravagant baby shower to welcome their new baby girl who is said to be named Laiyah. The festivities were held at the house of producer and family friend, Jermaine Dupri, this past Saturday. It's the couple's first child together as well as the first girl for both. The star studded shower was planned by party consultant Mindy Weiss. There was pink everywhere! The whimsical carnival theme was executed by lots of pink and peonies. It also consisted of a circus tent, jugglers and stilt walkers.

The baby’s name was revealed to guests on the pink glittery invite designed by Sandi Spells Design and the singer says she chose the name because, “it was girly, feminine and picked by her daughter’s godmother (Tiny Harris) so it has special meaning.”

Guests were greeted by a pink-saddled horse and pony.

“It was very whimsical, just like a Disney princess movie and just as I had envisioned it,” Monica told People Magazine. "There was so much love in the room and everybody had a great time.” The singer who is already a mother to boys Rocko, 8, and Romelo Montez, 5, while Phoenix Sun's guard is son to Shannon Christopher told People magazine  "I know everything about WrestleMania and Tonka Trucks so I’m excited to share shopping dates and manis and pedis with her. But I’m really looking forward to teaching her about life,” says Monica. “I want to be an example to her like my mother was to me.”
